Event hires at Beam

Our gallery and bookshop is available for hire for a wide range of events open to anyone who who is looking to host a small event in a beautifully presented gallery space and bookshop. The space is suitable for talks, workshops, private parties, photography studio, exhibitions and a location for film or photography.

Public Events

We can accommodate a wide range of public events as we want to encourage a wide range of audiences to visit Beam and enjoy our exhibitions, bookshop and cafe. All proposed public events are subject to review and must meet our basic criteria of being open to all, non discriminatory and professionally presented.

Events that we encourage:

  • Events that create opportunities to informal or professional learning

  • Cultural events, participation in festivals

  • Events relating to sustainability, nature and ecology

  • Film screenings and talks

  • Events relating to arts, design, craft, architecture, urbanism

  • Community meetings

  • Public consultations

  • Pop ups

We cannot accommodate the following:

  • Sports and fitness

  • Events that require weekly bookings

  • Party political meetings

  • Very noisy events

Music events:

While we’d like to accommodate music events opportunities are very limited as Primary is working building with other residents. However it is not impossible for short spells at specific times. Please provide as many details as possible.

Community events

We can accommodate events in our space for free or at very low rates if the use is for:

  • Community purposes

  • For members of Primary and for the local cultural community.

We can only provide a limited amount of time for free, so please consider taking this opportunity carefully as you may be denying someone else the opportunity who needs it more. Even a small contribution can be pay for a member staff to be present.

Public events presentation guide

At Beam we take the presentation of events seriously and we like to ensure that everyone receives a warm welcome. If your event is run well that’s good us all, if its run badly, it reflects badly on us, which we don’t want to happen.
